When travelling please allow as much time as possible to arrange your travel appointment, with the Practice.
This will ensure that you are more likely to be fully vaccinated before you depart to your destination, we advise you attend to arrange your appointment at least four weeks before you travel. If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. A second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Please note only the undernoted vaccines are available on NHS Prescriptions:
- Hepatitis A
Advice on Malaria will be given.
Certain vaccinations/Medications are not available on NHS, such as Malaria prescriptions, and Meningitis (ACWY) for Travel abroad and therefore you would need to pay a fee.
Immunisation against infectious Hepatitis (Hepatitis A) is available free of charge on the NHS in connection with travel abroad. However Hepatitis B is not routinely available free of charge and therefore you may be charged for this vaccination when requested in connection with travel abroad
